The Most Buzzed About Health And Fitness Gadgets At CES 2017
The past few weeks have been exciting in the tech world—and we’re not just talking about the new way to get food delivered (Amazon Echo FTW!). The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), took place in Vegas, where tech companies gathered to show off the latest and greatest gadgets—including a few that are designed to help you train harder, get stronger, and perform better. Of course there were lots of fitness trackers, soupped-up televisions and cameras, self-driving cars, and even an entire marketplace dedicated to sleep (which we know is super important). Here are a few of the items we’ll be keeping on our watch list for 2017.
Motiv1Motiv Ring, $199
What it does: The titanium, waterproof ring monitors your active minutes, sleep, active heart rate, resting heart rate, calories burned, distance, and steps. All stats are displayed in the corresponding app. It comes in rose gold and slate grey and in multiple ring sizes.
Why we’re intrigued: We’ve seen other companies try to think outside the box in terms of getting a tracker off your wrist, and it's great that this one is so sleek. Plus, the battery lasts up to five days, meaning you don’t have to take it off every night.

Polar2Polar's GoPro Compatible Watches, starting at $330
What it does: Now you can overlay fitness stats (such as heart rate) on top of your GoPro videos to see how your body reacts to waves, a downhill run, moguls, and more. The new pairing will work between a Hero4 and Hero5 camera and Polar's V800 ($500) and M600 ($330) sport watches and a new H10 heart rate monitor.
Why we're intrigued: For adventure seekers and GoPro enthusiasts who love creating head-turning content, this is totally going to up your video game. And, for people who love fitness stats, this is an easy way to see how your body responds when you are about ready to take a leap.

Under Armour3Under Armour’s TB12 Recovery Sleepwear, $60 to $100
What it does: Under Armour wants to harness the power of sleep to help your muscles recover more efficiently. They worked with pro-football player Tom Brady to create sleepwear that’s designed to help you recover. The bioceramic print on the inside of the sleepwear absorbs your body’s natural heat to keep you cool and comfy. It also reduces inflammation by reflecting back far infrared energy, which is said to help improve circulation. You can pick from a long sleeve and short sleeve shirt, shorts, and pants, all in a matching black or maroon.
Why we're intrigued: We haven't fact checked the recovery claims, but we know that our bodies need a good night's sleep to repair muscle tissue after a tough workout. So we're down with any tech that puts an emphasis on good, quality sleep (which helps make tomorrow's workout better, too, btw).

What it does: DSLR cameras are a fan favorite in the sports and fitness photo world, and Nikon’s latest D5600 promises high-quality photos in almost any condition, meaning low light and high light activities are all possible to shoot with this guy.
Why we're intrigued: With built in WiFi and SnapBridge (Nikon's app that connects to your smartphone via bluetooth), the photos you take will instantly appear on your phone, so you don’t have to wait to connect. The possibilities for instantaneous #TeamSELF sharing is endless.

What it does: Your gloves are on and you're about to hit the punching bags, but you forgot to start your Apple Watch, and now it's under velcro and two layers of gear. It's happened to all of us. The ActionSleeve moves your Apple Watch from your wrist to your arm. Just detach the the Watch's bands, slide the Apple Watch into the armband, then HIIT it!
Why we're intrigued: Crossfit-lovers no longer have to worry if that next kettlebell clean will accidentally crack the Watch's face, and boxers can stop or start a workout as they move from bag work to conditioning. Although we haven't tested it yet, the company says the heart rate tracking will still work.

What it does: This wearable allows diabetics to track their glucose levels with the use of biosensors (meaning no prick necessary). It's shower-proof, sends you alerts when it's about to take your reading, and monitors glucose levels throughout the day.
Why we're intrigued: If you're used to taking multiple daily readings, this makes the process more seamless. Plus, the monitor also acts as a basic tracker with daily steps, distance traveled, and calories burned to keep everything in one place. As a winner of the Tech for a Better World and honoree in the Wearable Technologies categories for this year, the tracker is definitely one to be watched.

What it does: Lactate (aka lactic acid) is what causes the burning feeling in your muscles during a workout. Designed mainly for endurance athletes, the device (which can be worn around your arm or wrist) tracks the lactic acid levels in your body, without the use of needles.
Why we're intrigued: You can only push yourself so far before lactic acid stops you. K’Track can help you stay under that threshold (whatever it is for you), so you can workout longer without burning out. It can also help you determine if you’re fully recovered and ready for another all-out session.

What it does: This 10" pan has a built-in weight and temperature sensor, and it's designed to tally calories and nutrients (from the brand's provided recipes). The main pan is detachable from the handle, so you can serve in it, too. Fewer dishes make for happy chefs.
Why we're intrigued: The weight sensor makes sure you’re following the recipe instructions to a T, while the temperature sensor keeps you from overcooking. The calorie counter syncs to your Fitbit, if you’re tracking.

Moen9U by Moen Showerhead, $1,225
What it does: The brand known for its super sleek faucets is ready to upgrade your shower experience with U by Moen. Download the app to turn on the shower and control temperature (60-120 degrees F) from your phone. It's like a remote starter for your car, but for the shower…ahhhhhh!
Why we're intrigued: If we were going to drop a grand on our shower, this is how we’d do it. Thanks to the app you can design up to 12 unique presets with a name, greeting (imagine your shower saying hi!), temperature, and shower timer. Not only will it have a warm shower waiting for you as you roll out of bed, but if you tend to linger too long under the water, you can set a stop time, so you're no longer late for work.
